Pallet Furniture – Win or Fail?

So the house cost a lot more than your original budget . . . . and now you can’t afford furniture!

No worries all you need is a few 2nd hand pallets!

It’s an interesting idea so it could be a WIN . . . . but it doesn’t look very comfy so for me it’s a FAIL!

Don’t Cut The Hedge!

It Might Bite Back!

I saw this impressive shark hedge during a recent holiday.

It is in Railton, the Topiary Town, of Northern Tasmania.

I didn’t count them but there are 150 living sculptures around the town with some very impressive examples including a steam engine, a dinosaur, and an elephant.

There is even a shop  selling topiary frames in the main street if you want to try your hand.

Easter Egg House?

With it being Good Friday today I couldn’t resist using this photo of a house that looks like a big egg!

Although it looks like an egg from the side it’s actually circular in plan . . .  so its more like a hamburger bun house.

Perhaps you need to find out about . . . .

An exerpt:

“I want it now against this wall!” she ordered,

“And keep it up as long as possible.”

“Don’t worry,” I said,

“I know how to put up a shelf.”

The House a Cow Built!

This is certainly an unusual house, and a key construction worker was a cow.

Basically dirt was piled up and a concrete floor was poured.

Hay bales were then stacked on the floor and more concrete poured around and over the bales.

The final step was to allow a cow to eat its way through the bales until the final surface were revealed.

I think the floor would have needed a lot of cleaning before you could lay a carpet.

Alternative Heating!

You might think that living in a hot country like Australia you don’t have to think about heating.

Have another think or on a cold night this sort of ‘Fan Heater’ might be the only way you can heat your room.

This photo is from There I fixed it – Red Neck Repairs one of my favourite waste of time websites.

Ikea Flat Pack House

Did you know that Ikea also makes flat pack homes?

As you can see from the picture below they aren’t what you might call a home, but to a refugee they are better than a tent.

These shelters provide emergency housing for natural disaster victims and refugees, and even include Solar Power

The flat pack homes were developed as a collaboration between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) and the Ikea Foundation.
