OTIS The Tiny ‘House’

How small can you go?

Well this is the Optimal Traveling Independent Space(OTIS) It’s a 6.7 square metre “living system” that can be towed on a trailer.
The pod-shaped tiny house includes indoor ‘plumbing’ in the form of a composting toilet, a rainwater collection system.
It also has a single 120-watt solar panel to provide electricity and a wood burning stove!

Ghost House 2

Here is another Ghost House where nothing seems to have moved for a long time.

As you can see it was going to be a big house.

After being exposed to the elements for years it’s probably only fit for demolition.

I have heard people say you should aim for the biggest you can afford . . . . That’s fine as long as things go well . . . . . . . . Hit a problem and this can be the result.

Choosing a New House‘ explains building costs to help you avoid finishing up with a ‘Ghost House’  like this.

Kitchen Drawer Fail

Have you ever wondered why kitchens with all the unit along a wall are so popular with builders?. . . . . and island units?

Why are drawers without a large handle common?

Well it stops mistakes like this happening!

I would have thought most kitchen installers would have made this mistake once, but only once!

One thing to think about though if planning a kitchen space with corners is the storage volume in those corners is very hard to access.

Downspout – Fail

An ingenious method of replacing a broken downspout on the cheap.

When they have gone to all the trouble to get a ladder to get to the roof level you would think they would have just spent a few dollars more for a proper piece of pipe.

First decent rain and this won’t have the capacity and will just burst apart.

Thanks to whitetrashrepairs.com for the photo. A great site for LOLs at duct tape repairs and dodgy fixes.

House in “The Cloud” ?

It looks like it’s a house that Apple’s Steve Jobs might have owned.

No Surprise that this Melbourne House is known the Cloud House.

Certainly stunning from this view, but you would never know it from the street, as it’s actually a rear extension to an Edwardian House.

This photo is from the Homesthetic.net website where you will find some more photographs (Well worth a look. if only for the ‘Loud’ carpet)

Hydrant Letter Box – Fail

Another one of those houses where I walked up and down the street 2-3 times before I realised the owner had used a hydrant cover as a letter box.

Don’t people want to get any post? . . . . . . .

It seems not if you look at the size of the slot or the door at the back, they are both tiny! . . . .  . . . . definitely a FAIL!

Not sure about the legality either!

See Letter Boxes for the minimum recommended sizes.

Beagle House

Not actually a house . . . . but you can stay the night in the dog for only $98 a night.

I’m not so sure about that staircase going up just below the tail though!!

The ‘Dog’ is called Sweet Willie at the Dog Bark Park, Cottonwood, Idaho.
